The Many Storms that Wet the day.

The First storm . . .
We must be living in Opposite town. When it's bright and sunny out, my kids and I stay indoors like vampires. But the moment it starts pouring rain, we run out into the thick of it, bare feet and all. Lemur was so happy to be out in the rain, as you can see. He later stood under the run off and soaked himself through, laughing all the while.
"I wanna splash in the puddles," a lonely ground bound baby says to herself. So her dear mother (who is also clever, gorgeous and funny) walked her over to a small puddle near the door. Rivulet splashed and played and then . . .
"Mmmmm. Robust and a bit heady. A fine vintage of rain water, if you ask me." She was sucking the offering of the sky off her pudgy little fingers. And was reprimanded.
Ohh. A tear! Raindrops of a different kind. And these weren't so fun. Lemur was drenched! But as soon as the rain was over, he was ready to go inside until:

The SECOND STORM . . .
Rivulet was content at first to stay on the dryish porch while laughing at Lemur and grinning at Muad'Dib. Later, she transformed into a mini maniac, holding Muad'Dib's fingers and walking out in the pouring rain like the rest of us. She sure loved holding her bare feet under the run off and splashing in puddles like a big girl. Ahh, yes. One minute it's pouring rain, with Lemur squealing about in delighted happiness . . .
The next, dark clouds are painted gold by the fading light of day . . .
And then a clear sky shows us that night has come, and a friendly sliver of moon winks it's playful light at us before we go back inside. Welcome to rain days in Utah!

Sooooooo fun! I miss those storms. They dump in North Ogden than have nothing left by the time they make it to cache valley. That tear pic tugs at my heartstrings...

As crianças estão lindas, fiquei com tristeza de ver a River chorando.

Yes, wonderful storms. Even I went splashing about in the rain and puddlets in front of our garage. But, alas, Trailblazer, does not think in terms of "I could blog this". He, was in fact, determining why the huge amount of water was pouring forth into our garage. It was a combination of the damaged and plugged drains. (Aftermath of the Male Dance).

Fun post! Thanks for making me smile - unlike Rivulet, eh?

What a wonderful picture book that was! Proof that every seemingly dull moment is packed with excitement and life. Mundane to those who can not see afar off, more the rather, the pastoral domestic scene is magnificent, anything but boring. I'm really jealous I missed out on that. What a great tear shot! Poor kid.

Wonderful story. A baby's tear does much to reprimand in its own way.

Hello! Thanks for your comments...I hope the Disney thing didn't offend. It was a self-invective, not condemning anyone else (I have a terrible habit of getting involved with needy/distant guys...that's where the whole horse movie thing came in--trying to tell myself to stop going for the "projects." And then people like my Austen-addict roommate help me realize that wistful passivity isn't going to get me anywhere, either. Agh. Anyways, wow, too much self-disclosure, right? :p ).
I just want to tell you that your blog makes me very happy. I love how much you clearly love being a mom. And life in general. Your family is very lucky to have you!
And, seriously...people who say rain is melancholy haven't danced in it lately.
